| Apple and Pumpkin Pocket Craft and Name Recognition |
The fall is such a fun time of the year. Make the most of it with it's iconic fruit- Apples and Pumpkins! Turn each pumpkin and apple seed into a letter to spell out a child's name and tuck the seeds inside the pocket.
Classified: Super easy- even a young toddler can do it!
What you need:
- Red or orange paint (depending on pumpkin or apple)
- Brown and green construction paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Paper plates (dinner size- 2)
- Paintbrushes
- Laminate
- Stapler
What to do:
prep: Cut 1 paper plate in half. Cut a brown stem and green leaf out of construction paper. Cut seeds out of brown construction paper- write each letter of your child's name on each seed and laminate for extra protection. Note: I used a capital letter for the beginning letter in my daughter's name and the rest lowercase. For my 17 month old I used all capital letters in his name. This was to teach him the basic letters of his name first.
1. Paint the top of the whole paper plate and the bottom of the half of the paper plate red or orange (depending on pumpkin or apple). Allow to dry.

2. Staple the half of plate to the whole plate and have your child glue on the stem and leaf. Allow for the glue to set before you begin to play.
3. Have your child take out each letter and recite it to you. Then have them spell their name. We will eventually be adding letters to my 3 year old's last name in the mix!
