What to do: 

1. Download the template file and install it into your MyMemories software by following the prompts it gives you.
2. Using MyMemories Suite, choose Create Album From Designer Template and find your project that you downloaded.
3. Now you can print and enjoy the provided template, or customize it with your own papers and embellishments.

TIPS:

• You can right-click on the white guide and lock it in place to keep it from moving while you are working. Make sure this is the top layer of your project before printing.

 

• Instead of adding the paper as a background paper, you can add it as an embellishment so that you can move the paper to where you would like it.  This is very useful when using papers with circles or stripes, so you can decide which part of the paper you want to use.

 

• Once it is added as an embellishment, you can now select the paper and move it into the position the way that you want it.  

Just SAVE and PRINT on cardstock !

Flower Card Tutorial
How to Assemble your Flower Card

1.  Print your creation onto cardstock paper.

 

2.  Take your card template page and fold at all fold lines.  A bone folder helps make the creases nice and crisp to help your finished card to look nicer.

 3.  There should be a total of 9 folds when you are done.

4.  Cut out your card.

5.  Turn your card over so that the printed side is down and pinch the sides of each petal together until all 6 petals are standing straight up.  

  

6.  Gently push all the petals in one direction until they lay flat.

7.  You now have a flower card!

8.  Tie a ribbon (not included) or something of its equivalence around the card to hold it shut.

9.  Embellish as desired.  This card was embellished with a circle cut out from a piece of digital background paper.

Kids Craft: Valentine's Day Luv Puppy Puppet

My children had a lot of fun creating and playing with their Valentine's Day Luv Puppy Craft. Reinforce the shape: heart; colors: red, white, black and pink and spacial concepts, such as: over, under, left and right.

Classified: Easy and fun to do with ages 2 and up!

What you need:

Step 1 + 2 more hearts for paws

1. Red, pink, black and white construction paper (either 9x12" or 12x18")
2. Paper lunch or craft bags.  I used white for this project.
3. Scissors
4. Glue
5. Black marker
6. Pencils

What to do:
1. Cut various size hearts according to the size of your paper bag. I had my preschooler cut out his own heart face for practice. See Step 1 photo for guide. You will need 1 large heart for face; 2 long hearts for ears; 2 small white hearts for eyes; 2 medium hearts for cheeks and back, 3 small hearts for nose and paws and 1 crescent shape for tail. Allow your child to select the colors they desire. Great time to talk about (reinforce) the colors red, pink, white and black!

Step 2

2. Assemble face as shown in Step 2 photo. Give directions such as "glue nose on top of his cheeks." or What color do you want for your Luv Puppy's left ear?"
3. Glue face to fold on bag and glue paws to the bottom.
4. For an extra touch, I cut a heart out of the center "spot" on the medium heart for the back. Glue to the "back" of the Luv Puppy.
5. Bend tail at end of crescent and glue to the back. (See step 5 photo).

Kids Craft: Learning Your Address House

Looking for a craft that teaches name recognition, shapes, numbers, and basic architecture all while introducing your child's address? Here is the one-stop craft that can do all that.

I have taught my first born his address when he was about 2 and half years old all by memorization. He has an awesome memory! My daughter is now reaching that milestone, and is a different type of learner than he is. (Check out: http://www.infed.org/thinkers/gardner.htm a good overview of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences). As most children are visual learners at this age, this craft will help aid in teaching them their address by constructing their own house out of basic shapes and creating an envelope with the child's full name and address.

Classified: Easy

What you need:

1. Various colors of construction paper depending on what your child's house (or apartment building) looks like.
2. 1 12x18" sheet of white construction paper to make envelope
3. Glue sticks
4. Ruler
5. Pencil
6. Scissors
7. Crayons
8. Black Marker

What to do:  

Step 1- fold

1.  Parents/teachers- for envelope, fold the 12x18" sheet of paper in half (the long way) leaving a 1" flap at the top. See photo.
2. Glue the outer edges together with glue sticks. Dry.
3. On the outside of the envelope; write with black marker your child's first, middle and last name on line 1; their street address on line 2, city/town on line 3, and state on line 4.

Prep for house-

1. Discuss with your child what their house looks like? Asking:

• What color is your house? Does it have bricks, windows, and a porch? (We obviously have a red-bricked house)
• What color is your roof? Brown? Gray? 
• Is your house big or small? (It's funny to hear what they come up with.)

Live in apartment building?- not a problem! Have them describe what the outside of the building looks like.

• Are there a lot of windows? Doors? Is it a tall building or long?What color is your building?

2. After your chat about their house, either have pre-cut, or cut on the spot, a 5"x5" square for the house based on the color that your child's description - or - a 5"x8" for an apartment building.

3. A triangle (usually brown, black or gray) for the roof. The roof should have a 6" wide base for a 1/2" over hang on either side. You may want to make an isosceles triangle for an apartment building roof.

4. Cut an appropriate size door and windows using colors of your choice.

5. Assemble and glue.

6. Have your child draw in details with crayons (examples: bushes, a portrait of them in a window, flowers, etc.)

7. Dry.

8. Place the complete house inside the envelope. 

Lesson Ideas:

It is awesome if your child can memorize their address, but can they recognize it as well? Here are some ideas that can help with both.

1. Have your child recite their whole name and address, including city and state. Once they are able to do so they may hold onto their house (memorization).
2. Give your child their house. If you are a teacher working with a group of children, place all the envelopes (name up) on the floor and have the children find their address and put their house in the envelope (one at a time). If you are a parent, create about 5 additional envelopes and have your child complete the same task (recognition).

This year, using the Top Secret Video Transmission of Santa Web site, I am going to pretend to catch Santa in the act by "video recording" him visiting our house for my children. This is yet another great Web site in which you can use with your children Christmas morning. At TSVTS you can upload a photo of your Christmas tree and have it look as though Santa has visited your house while your children were asleep. Best of all it is completely free with a short survey or $4.95 if you decide not to take one!

Kids Craft: Santa and Reindeer Plate

 Want to add some pizzazz to the milk and cookies that you will leave out for Santa? Have fun decorating a plate and cup with your child(ren) that you will leave out for Santa Christmas Eve night. Santa and Reindeer Plate craft is a great project for you and your kid(s) to work together on. Share a loving and crafty moment while reinforcing teamwork values!

What you need:

• Brown and black acrylic paint
• Sponge brush
• Apple
• Any size paper plate
• Small paper bathroom cup (example: Dixie)
• 8-10 oz. plastic or paper cup
• Red and brown construction paper
• Scissors
• Black Marker
• Glue
• Googly Eyes
• Red pom pom
• Ribbon 
• Crayons
• Wax paper (for palette and glue) and Q-tip for glue application and knife to cut apple (adults cut only!)

What to do: 
To make the plate:
 Adult: cut an apple in half. This is what you will use to print your cookie design onto the plate.

• Paint the apple with brown paint (I used a sponge brush here) and print it onto the plate as many times as you desire.
• Allow to dry. While drying, you can skip on down to the Reindeer Carrot Cup and then hop back up to complete the plate.
• Once dry, dip your child's index finger into black paint and print "chocolate chips" onto the cookie. 
• Trace the outer edges of the cookie with black marker.

 
To make Reindeer Carrot Cup:

• Use your bathroom cup as a guide to trace his face using a black marker.
• To make his antlers, use the cup again, but this time only trace a crescent on either side of the head.
• Draw "bubble" F's (one backwards) to complete the antler drawing.
• Cut out. Or if capable, have your child cut it out.
• Glue (or draw) on his eyes, nose and mouth.
• Using the ribbon, tie a bow and glue to the bottom of the head.
• Glue the finished face to the small bathroom cup and set aside to dry.

To Make the "Milk 4 Santa" Cup:

• Using the size of your cup as guide, cut a red strip of construction paper that is long and wide enough to fit your cup.
• Decorate with crayons, glitter, ribbon, etc. Write "Milk 4 Santa" in the center of the red strip.
• Glue and wrap around cup. Allow time to dry.

Assembly:
Glue the reindeer cup to the plate to make it one whole unit. I am going to have my 4-year old write "For: Santa" on a piece of paper the night we leave it out with milk, cookies and carrots for............. Santa!

Kids Craft: Santa Paper Tube Doll

The Santa Paper Tube Doll is an easy craft to do with your young child or in a classroom setting. With a few simple materials, and a creative little hand, you can make Santa come to life with this easy children's craft.

With so many things to get done at Christmas time, I have to say it is nice to stop and take a moment and celebrate one another. Doing crafts with my children is more than a teaching experience to me- it is "our" time in which we can share with one another what the true meaning of Christmas is-togetherness!

Classified: Easy and great for toddlers, preschoolers and young children.

What you need:

1. Paper towel roll tube cut in half or a toilet paper tube roll
2. Red and dark brown (or black) fun foam
3. Red felt
4. White curling ribbon or yarn
5. Tacky Glue
6. Cotton Ball
7. Skin-colored construction paper
8. Crayons
9. Red tempera paint
10. Silver or gold pipe cleaner
11. Paint brushes, palette, appear towel and cup for water
12. Hint: I use Q tips for easy glue application!

What to do:

1. Using the end of the paper tube, trace around the circumference onto the skin colored sheet of construction paper and cut out for Santa's face. Set to the side for the time being.

2. Paint the paper towel tube red and allow to dry.
3. While tube is drying, have your child create a beard with the cotton ball and glue to the face. Draw on facial features with crayon.



Step 4

4. Cut two small rectangles into the felt for arms and two ovals from the dark brown felt for hands. Glue together (see photo).



Step 5

5. Once the red tube is dry, cut a large enough rectangle out of red felt to go around the circumference of the top of the tube. Approximately: 3" wide by 4" tall. Glue to the top of the tube.
6. After an hour of dry time, tie the top of the Santa hat with yarn (or curling ribbon).



Step 6


7. Lay the tube on it's side and glue on his face, add Santa's belt using the pipe cleaner and glue on his hands to the tube. Cut a 3" heart shape out of black fun foam for the feet, glue to the bottom of the tube and allow all to dry.
8. Optional: My daughter insisted on adding googly eyes. I also drew in legs with a black marker.

 

Kid's Craft: Rudolph Felt Ornament

Want to make a keepsake that can be passed on generation to generation? The Rudolph Felt Ornament is a fun craft that is great as a gift or to keep for your family. It's easy enough to do at home or in a classroom with young children and babies!

7 Month Old Creation

Classified: Easy

What you need:

1. Light brown and dark brown felt (or black felt)
2. Black permanent marker
3. Scissors
4. Tacky Glue or fabric glue
5. White, dark brown, red and black tempera (or acrylic) paint
6. Green yarn
7. Jingle Bell
8. Modge Podge or Fabric Stiffner
9. Sponge Brush
10. Wax Paper

What to do:

1. Paint the bottom of your child's foot and print it onto the light brown felt square. Cut around the foot print once dry.
2. Trace each hand out onto the dark brown (black) felt and cut around hand print.
3. Glue the hand antlers onto the face as shown with fabric/tacky glue.

4. Using your child's fingers, create the whites of Rudolph's eyes by painting and printing her thumb and printing it onto the face. Dip your child's index finger into the black paint and create pupils. The red nose is made by printing your child's index finger with red paint.
5. Dry for a few hours.
6. To make fabric stiff, add one-two coats of Modge Podge/Fabric Stiffner over the entire project lightly with a sponge brush. 
7. While Modge Podge/Fabric Stiffner is drying, string the jingle bell with the green yarn and glue the ends to either side of the "neck" of Rudolph. Dry.
8. Once Completly dry, outline eyes nose and mouth with black permenant marker.

9. To Hang: Turn Rudolph Felt Ornament over and cut a 2-4" of green yarn and glue each end to the hand antlers.

Tip: write your child's name, age and yurear on back for a keepsake ;-)
